Resumo:
Heterogeneous welds have been studied and improved for decades to serve the petrochemical, nuclear, aerospace and automotive industries. One of the factors that attracts research interest into these welds is the fact that they can join metals with different chemical composition characteristics and mechanical properties in a single joint. Heterogeneous welds are joints where the composition of the filler metal is different from the base metal. In many situations, there are no filler metals on the market with properties similar to those of the base metal, or the desired properties cannot be achieved using a metal with a similar composition. When using a filler metal that has a different composition than the base metal, the effects of dilution must be considered, so that the properties of the welded joint are as expected. The goal of this research is to join dissimilar welds made between AISI 304 and ASTM A36 steels, with subsequent calculation and analysis of the dilution of the joints and plotting of the Schaeffler diagram. In this way, is expected to find the chemical composition of the weld metal and the effects of dilution on it and the expected microstructure of the welding material as well.
